What happened on March 21-22, 2025, in Malta wasn’t just a dance event. It was a movement. A celebration of Cuban salsa culture, of connection, of rhythm and soul. And most importantly, it was a celebration of community.
The very first Baila Cuban Salsa Weekend exceeded all our expectations. It was more than music and dance. It was emotion. It was energy. It was something we will never forget.
So here it is: a heartfelt THANK YOU.
This event showcased the vibrant spirit of Cuban salsa, inviting everyone to immerse themselves in the rhythm.
Thank you to the over 100 dancers who joined us at the Alexandra Hotel in St. Julian’s, turning an ordinary ballroom into a pulsing heart of Cuban salsa culture. Your joy, your sweat, your energy brought this vision to life.
To our incredible guest artists, Omara Lapera and Rafael Hernandez, thank you for your talent, your generosity, and the soul you brought into every movement. Your workshops were not just lessons in dance, but lessons in spirit and tradition.
To Maestro Rudsel and Zsuzsa, and to all of your amazing students — thank you for your presence, your support, and your open hearts.
To the students of Plus53 Cuban Styles, you were the engine behind this event. You danced, you helped, you welcomed every guest with the warmth that defines our community.
To all the Cuban culture lovers dancing here in Malta, and to the incredible group of students who came all the way from Naples with Omara — your passion was felt deeply. Your presence elevated the atmosphere beyond what we could have imagined.
And of course, to the team at Alexandra Hotel, thank you for the hospitality and support that made everything smoother behind the scenes.
What Made This Cuban Salsa & Styles – Weekend So Special?
It started on Friday with a special beginner class — an invitation for those who had never danced before to step into a new world. The room filled quickly. Some nervous, some curious, but all willing. And from the very first beat, the fear disappeared, replaced by laughter and light.
At 8:30 PM, the doors opened to everyone. And then came the first workshop — a blend of Cuban styles led by Omara Lapera and Salvador Rodriguez: Salsa, Reparto, Yoruba, Guaguancó, and Cuban partner work. It was intense. It was powerful. It was beautiful.
And then… the party.
From 10 PM to 1 AM, the floor transformed. Salsa, bachata, reparto, animation, smiles, and hugs filled every corner. It wasn’t just about dancing. It was about feeling.
Saturday brought even more: two special workshops in the afternoon — one on Guaguancó, a playful, spiritual, and flirtatious style of Cuban rumba that connects body and music in a unique way. And the second, on Son Cubano, the elegant foundation of modern salsa. Two deep, powerful journeys into the roots of Cuban dance.
The evening followed with another unforgettable workshop and a second social night, even bigger and more explosive than the first. We danced until our feet hurt and our hearts were full.

And Now… We Look Ahead ✨
This was only the beginning. The energy, the connections, the feedback we received have inspired us to go even further.
That’s why today, with both gratitude and excitement, we announce that the next edition of Baila Cuban Weekend will return in 2026 — bigger, better, and bolder.
What can you expect?
- A larger cast of international artists
- More live music and percussion
- Workshops for all levels, from beginner to pro
- Guests from all over Europe and beyond
- And of course, the same love, soul, and Cuban fire that made this first edition unforgettable
We will take everything we learned this year and use it to build something even more magical. Our dream? To make Malta one of the European hubs for Cuban dance culture. And with your support, we know it’s possible.
So for now, we say GRACIAS. Thank you for trusting us, for dancing with us, for being part of something special.
We’ll keep sharing the photos, the reels, the memories. But more importantly, we’ll keep dancing. Together.
See you in 2026. And until then… keep the Cuban spirit alive.
With love, rhythm, and fire,
Prof. Famoso Salvador Rodriguez, founder of Plus53 Cuban Styles and organaizer of Baila Cuban Weekend – Malta
